This system lets you scan up to 55 pages per minute and scanned documents can be quickly accessed as thumbnails via the WebDAV protocol. This speedy scanning time allows for timely conversion of hard copies to digital format and yet retaining the original characteristics as closely as possible. Once the documents are scanned, they can be transferred to any of the 500 mailboxes on the device, or a number of destinations on the organisation’s network (using FTP and SMB protocol).

The DocuCentre 550 I/ 450 I offers secure printing of confidential documents with an imposed function of having the user enter a predefined password at the device to enable printing.

If you have very thin documents to be printed, rest assured that the DocuCentre 550 I/ 450 I’s “Lightweight Media Copying” enables paper as thin as 38gsm to be copied effectively and images reproduced clearly. Faxing is also a swift affair when using this device, which transmits faxes at a speed of less than three seconds per page. To save paper and cut down costs, users can even send faxes directly from their PC using the printer driver.

All documents printed by one or more users can be saved to a mailbox for long periods of time through the printer driver or by scanning at the device. Users can then merge the documents with others within the mailbox and retrieve them easily when they’re needed for printing.
